Minister funds repair, Daily News report an eye-opener

GINIGATHENA: As a result of a Daily News report spotlighting the dilapidated state of the suspension bridge over the Kehelgamuoya on the Koswatte-Ellugedara road, the Ambagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha has taken steps to reconstruct the bridge.

The Minister of Youth Empowerment and Social Economic Development Arumugan Thondaman has funded a sum of Rs. 175,000 for reconstruction of the bridge which was in a state of disrepair during the past few years.

Accordingly with the recommissioning of the bridge, residents of the remote villages of Koswatte, Ellugedara and Homagama will be able to travel on the Koswatte-Ellugedara road conveniently.

Meanwhile the villagers thank both the Minister of Social Economic Development Arumugam Thondaman for funding the reconstruction of the rural bridge and the Daily News for drawing the attention of the authorities concerned to the dilapidated state of the bridge.
