COLOMBO: The pre-planned arrangements made according to the
President’s instructions given to the Ministry two months ago was the
reason for the success of an improved New Year passenger transport
service, said Road Passenger Transport Services Minister Lasantha
Alagiyawanna after an inspection tour of the Central Bus Stand in Pettah
yesterday. Alagiyawanna cited that the passenger services arranged by
the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) for the convenience of passengers
has reduced their waiting time drastically.
“It is obvious that there is no rush in the bus stand this year from
the beginning,” the Minister added.
He also pledged that the same arrangements will be made after the New
Year for the returning passengers. He appreciated the cooperation of the
employees of the SLTB, Provincial Transport Services including Omni Bus
Services for the successful services provided for the festive service.
The Minister explained the ongoing construction work and future plans
in connection with the development of the Central Bus Stand to
facilitate passengers. |
