Let us move forward as a united Nation - PM

COLOMBO:It is time to forget old grievances and hostilities and move forward together as a united Nation, Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake said.

In a message to mark the New Year, the Prime Minister said: “The Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations are much awaited national cultural events. It is a time of togetherness and joy for all our people. It is a time when we touch base and renew our cultural traditions.

It is a time of merging and sharing in the traditional practices of our two main ethnic peoples. This is a time to forget old grievances and hostilities and move forward together as a united nation. It is a time of fraternity and peace and happiness. I wish all our people a peaceful, plentiful and happy New Year.”
