NEW SPA: The Tangerine Hotel Kalutara has added a spa to their portfolio which has turned out to be a very profitable venture.

Resident Manager of the Hotel, Lakal Jayasinghe said they have a very good response for the Spa from both in-house guests and their sister five star hotel Royal Palms guests. He said that a specially trained local team with an qualified doctor is overlooking the operations of this Spa.

He said one of the unique features of the Spa is that it offers both the Western and Ayurveda forms of

Part of the large garden in Tangerine was selected to build the spa two years ago and today there are nearly 10-member staff.

Director-General Manager, Tangerine Beach Hotel and Royal Palms, Jan Van Twest said since they cater to all inclusive guests this Spa would give them additional revenue.

He also said that the living standards of Kalutara residents have increased and therefore their wedding and conference market is growing.

“People today can afford to have their wedding reception in star class hotels,” he said. They also host British Exotic weddings in both hotels. The group is also looking at new markets and are doing special promotions in both India and the Gulf.

Tangerine hotel built over 20 years ago is also undergoing a major refurbishment and already rooms have been upgraded.

The hotel also arranges two day excursions to their other property, Grand Hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

Both hotels have a staff of 400 and over 85 per cent of them are Kalutara district. “This has been one of our policies to give preference to residents of the area,” he said.
