President briefs Japanese Foreign Minister on APRC
INDIA: President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday held talks with
Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso in New Delhi.
Also is representing Japan, which has observer status, at the SAARC
summit. President Rajapaksa briefed Aso extensively on the current
situation in Sri Lanka and the deliberations of the All party
Representatives Committee (APRC).
The President told the Japanese foreign minister that he would be
getting the APRC proposals in the next few days and the Government would
take further action in this regard. The Japanese Foreign Minister
invited President Rajapaksa to undertake a State visit to Japan.
Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama, President's Secretary Lalith
Weeratunga, Foreign Secretary Dr. Palitha Kohona and several other
officials participated in the discussion.
Meanwhile, all SAARC leaders now in India for the 14th Summit met
Indian President J.P. Abdul Kalam at his official residence last
evening. They discussed regional issues with the Indian President.
