'Vo-tec' at Ratnapura

EXHIBITION: The first `Vo-Tec' exhibition for the Year 2007
commenced at Ratnapura Technical College yesterday and will continue
till April 7.
Vocational and Technical Training Ministry revealed that the
objective of the exhibition is to create the necessary work force for
the development of the country. The Ministry hopes to attract school
leavers and drop-outs to join technical training.
"Two new technical colleges will be established in Akkaraipattu and
Pitabeddara. Rs. 3.5 million is allocated to improve the technical
colleges. The number of students were increased by 10 per cent last
year," Ministry media centre pointed out.
"In Sri Lanka, there are so many vocational training institutions in
operation.
They should be conscious of the quality of service they deliver to
the customers or the trainees," Director, National Vocational
Qualification, Vajira Perera said underlining the importance of quality
training.
He also said that quality of service is a prime requirement of any
institution for its sustainability in the business.
"However, with the extent of demand of vocational training the
service quality deteriorates inversely, he said. |
