Stylish yet casual, the new UBG...

EXPERIENCE the modern interpretation of a classical bistro... the new UBG! Stylish yet casual the new “bistro-style” UBG opened its doors after a month long facelift.

The décor here is warm and avant-garde with ambient yellow lighting to suit any mood.

Executive lunch buffet at the UBG

Subtle changes, for instance, the earthy tones on the freshly painted walls, the pristine white crockery and cutlery in varied shapes, or the funky purple and orange glasses will be noticed by those who have visited frequently, but it is the menu that really stands out.

“Our strategy is to focus on product attributes that have made us popular”, states Operations Manager, Nishan Silva, “good food, at a good price coupled with a great ambience”.

The new a la carte menu offers a wide selection of cuisines ranging from the best pizzas and pasta in town prepared by none other than Executive Chef Kumar, a specialist in Italian cuisine to Tex-mex, Thai or Middle Eastern for the more adventurous.

For that matter, any food you might fancy be it an all day breakfast, barbecue platter, Australian Angus steak or chicken, teriyaki style is on offer, all prepared with the finest quality ingredients.

Start your meal with a light “new age” tapas or piping hot soup whether it be a spicy oxtail or Seafood Cioppino, a hearty soup with crab, molluscs, squids, fresh market fish served with focaccia toast and pesto - it’s a personal favourite of mine.

The menu also contains a splattering of Hilton Classics and healthy options. The Hilton Classic Caesar is a definite must try, although the Tex-Mex Chicken Salad and Greek Stack compete for pole position.

The new a la carte menu, designed to cater for a meal at any time of the day, is even able to satisfy that craving

for a wholesome burger or sandwich.

The UBG designer burger, which is a combination of premium Australian beef minced with pickled beetroot, on a sesame seed bun with rocket, pancetta, tomato, fried egg, creamy Dijonaise and a side serving of French fries, is simply sensational.

UBG’s executive lunch buffet satisfies the corporate executive looking for quick service and a very satisfying a la minute dining experience.

Lunch whether buffet or a la carte could also be a relaxed affair if you so wish. Catch a glimpse of the latest global stock trends as you enter the restaurant on the plasma screen or switch off from the stresses of the day while tucking into our revamped a la minute buffet with a generous grill and roast section, healthy salads and soups and diversity to suit any palate with friends, family or business colleagues.

A highlight of the new UBG is an eight-seat teak wood feature table with designer high back wooden chairs, which needs to be booked in advance in case you fancy a more elaborate meal or perhaps wish to celebrate a special occasion in style.

Also on offer is an extensive wine list with a selection of new and old world wines to satisfy even the most discerning wine connoisseur. new Restaurant Manager, Amanda invites you to explore the wine cellar to select the perfect wine to complement your meal.

Turning a fine meal into a memorable one are the desserts such as Mocha Parfait with Strawberry compote, the sinful Chocolate vanilla layered cheesecake or UBG’s classic chocolate mousse, an absolute must have, with due regrets for the diet conscious!

“In fact, the whole dessert experience has a melt-in-the mouth sensation for those who like to indulge in the sweeter things in life”.

Kids are also most welcome at UBG and can select from their very own “special kids menu” and enjoy soft drinks free of charge while busying themselves with crayons and fun activities.

And, if that’s not enough, enjoy the vibrant buzz of the restaurant on a Friday night at the Union Bar while listening to the sultry tunes of Flame with a frozen cocktail in hand or try out one of our refreshing new style shakes.

The UBG opens daily for lunch from 12 noon to 3 pm and dinner from 7 pm to 11 pm. however if you missed lunch and wish to have a late afternoon snack, the UBG is open!
