Muslim Council writes to Ranil

COLOMBO: The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka has written to Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe to clarify a statement he had made at a recent book launch, where he has reportedly stated that Islam was spread by armed force.

The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka expressed its deepest shock at the distortion of historical fact contained in the statement, the letter signed by Acting Secretary General M.D.M. Rizvi said.

“The Muslim community is very much concerned as this is not a historical fact,” the letter added.
