Thurstan Rugby sevens on March 24 and 25

RUGBY: Thurstan College which began playing rugby in 1957 and
now in the forefront of schools rugby in Sri Lanka will celebrate their
Rugby Golden Jubilee in a fitting manner by conducting a Seven-a-side
Rugby tournament' organised by the Thurstan College Rugby Golden Jubilee
tournament committee on March 24 and 25 at the Royal College, Sports
Complex, Stanley Wijesundara Mawatha, Colombo 07.
Twenty four schools have been invited to participate in this event.
The teams will be drawn into eight groups with three teams each and all
the matches will be played on a league basis. Four Ladies teams,
Slimline Sports Club, Army SC, Black Mares RFC and Seethawaka RFC will
also take part at the womens' tournament.
All the participating teams invited from outstations will be provided
with accommodation along with transport to and from the venue. The
winning team of the tournament will be awarded a cash prize of
Rs.150,000/-.
The teams have been divided into groups as follows:
Group A - Thurstan College, Zahira College, Harischandra College,
Negombo
Group B - Ananda College, Embilipitiya Central College, St.Thomas
College, Bandarawela
Group C - Science College, S.Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia, Nalanda
College
Group D - St. Anthony's College, Katugastota, Lumbini College,
Colombo, St.Joseph's College, Anuradhapura
Group E - St. Joseph's College, Maradana, Mahanama College, Royal
College, Panadura
Group F - Vidyartha College, Kandy, Piliyandala Central College, CWW
Kannangara College
Group G - St. Peter's College, DS Senanayake College, Royal College,
Horana.
Group H - Isipathana College, Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa,
Carey College, Colombo. |
