Sehwag steers India to an easy win

CRICKET: A majestic century from Virender Sehwag- 114 in 87 balls helped India to beat Bermuda by 257 runs in their second outing in the World Cup at the Queens Park Oval, today.

Sehwag whose form with the bat was not what it should have been in recent times, came back to form and it was a treat watching him bash the bowling with disdain and hit them for 17 fours and 3 sixes.

Sehwag whose selection came in for a lot of criticism, repaid the confidence that skipper Rahul Dravid had in him by returning to form.

The hard hitting opener's knock took the Indians to a massive 413 for 5 and in reply Bermuda could only make 156.

Except for opener Uthappa who made 3 and failed to get among the runs, all other Indian batsmen made merry to make big scores.

Sourav Ganguly who made a half century against Bangladesh, continued his good run and made another score of 89. His score was made in 114 balls with 2 sixes and 6 fours.

While Dhoni made 29 off 25 balls with one six and two fours, Yuvraj Singh and Sachin Tendulkar hit out against the tired Bermuda bowlers to make 83 and 56.

The stylish Singh's blast came off 46 balls with 7 huge sixes and 3 fours. Tendulkar too returned to form and was at his brilliant best making 56 unbeaten runs in just 28 deliveries with 4 sixes and one four.

The Bermuda bowlers lacked line and length and conceded 17 wides and 7 no balls. When Bermuda replied they could only make a paltry 156. D.Hemp an aggressive left hander top scored with an unbeaten 76 which came in 103 balls with 1 six and 9 fours.

Ajit Agakar the medium pacer took 3 for 38 and leg spinner Anil Kumble had 3 for 38. With this win the Indians who lost to Bangladesh still remain in the frame for a place in the super 8.
