Prevent LTTE slaying Tamils

Tamil Democratic Congress urges UNHRC :

LONDON: The Tamil Democratic Congress (TDC) has appealed to the Fourth Session of the UN Human Rights Council to fully investigate the arbitrary and extra judicial killings and the incommunicado detentions of Tamils by the LTTE in various locations in the uncleared areas in Sri Lanka.

The TDC in its appeal to the UN Human Rights Council states to consider the following matters seriously.

Outweigh the shenanigan of the LTTE that the Sri Lankan government Forces and its agents are the only source causing the human rights violations and humanitarian crisis against the Tamils in Sri Lanka.

The LTTE must be made fully accountable to the disappearance and arbitrary execution of those opposed to its violent cause. The UN Human Rights Council must appoint an independent international commission to investigate the human rights violations in Sri Lanka for the past several years.

A comprehensive investigation must include violations by the LTTE which had singularly committed a large number of heinous crimes against its own people.

Such investigation and its conclusions will give indepth information on human rights violation by the parties and will enable victims and their relatives to provide vital evidence causing the human rights violations in Sri Lanka.

The LTTE is holding many hundreds of Tamils in mosquito and lethal worms ridden secret locations like 'Nasagari' (destructive) camp in Vanni, where torture and inhuman treatment are common practices.

The LTTE also administer underground cells where prisoners do not see the daylight and mosquitoes and worms in the cells perform their due share of the torture for the LTTE.

The UN Human Rights Council must be permitted to visit all the secret cells of the LTTE and be allowed unrestricted access to meet persons to investigate the captivities by the LTTE and its gross human rights violations against its own people.

Intervention is needed to resettle the large number of Muslims forcefully evicted en-masse from the north by the LTTE.

The evicted Muslims are living in squalid conditions in various locations in Sri Lanka.

The LTTE guns are not directed against the enemy combatants. It has played the inhuman role against religious dignitaries.

Hundreds of Hindu, Buddhists and Muslim religious leaders were slaughtered by the LTTE in a calculated manner for all kinds of reasons. It is historical fact that the LTTE had also gunned down Japanese religious dignitaries when they were engaged in religious prayers in Jaffna for peace in Sri Lanka.

The child recruitment by the LTTE must be brought to an end immediately.

Mechanisms must be implemented for immediate release of the under aged conscripts and they must be rehabilitated under international supervision.
