This is the first time in the history of the legal arena that all important cases will be translated into Sinhala and will be in the website for the benefit of BASL members.

Colombo Magistrate's Court Lawyers' Association President Ranjith Shantha said the library was re-developed into a library and research centre by President's Counsel Heamantha Warnakulasuriya.

"President's Counsel Warnakulasuriya had spent his personal funds to rebuild the library and the research centre to be used by Association members", he said.

President's Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya said opening the library and research centre for the Colombo Magistrate's Court Lawyers' Association was a dream come true for him.

He said he had been planning to set-up a library and a research centre for the association for the last several years, since he joined the Bar about 35 years ago. "Today it has been fulfilled," he added. Names and contact numbers of all members of the BASL will be in the Hemantha Warnakulasuriya Library and Research Centre website in the near future. This website will also benefit law students.

Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge Namal Bandara Balalle, Colombo Additional Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya, Additional Magistrate Mohamed Irzadeen and Additional Magistrate Sujeewa Nissanka were associated with the Colombo Chief Magistrate at the opening ceremony.

Senior and junior members of the Colombo Magistrate's Court Lawyers' Association also participated.

Association Secretary Pathmapriya Ranawaka delivered the vote of thanks.
