Top award for Lankan Minister

MANILA: The Asia Pacific Human Resources Development Award was conferred on Vocational and Technical Training Minister Piyasena Gamage at the International Award Ceremony in Manila, Philippine, last morning.

This award was presented to Gamage by Dr. King Huck Su, United Nation's Asiatic Regional Secretary General and Executive Secretary of the United Nation's Economic and Social Commission.

The Minister received this award for his service to develop vocational and technical training.

The Minister was praised at the ceremony for his dedication to strengthen the youth force by taking vocational and technical training efforts to rural areas and for opening the doors for the younger generation to become stakeholders in the social and economic development process.

Out of 29 countries, the other three selected for the award were Augustus Cijuko, Director General of Technical Education, Philippine, Dr.Yong Di Kew of National University of Seoul, Republic of Korea and Michael Limo, Minister of Education, Papua New Guinea.
