CCC takes Premier League title

CRICKET: CCC emerged Premier League cricket champions by beating defending champions SSC by 383 runs at Maitland Crescent yesterday.

Chasing the CCC's mammoth target of 597 SSC only scored 214 with the top scores from Kaushalya Lokuarachchi (40) and Dhammika Prasad (44). Jehan Mubarak with having a match bag of four wickets for 59 was on a good form on behalf of winners.

CCC - 423 (D. K. Ranaweera 65, G. N. Nandika 89, Michael Vandort 134, Chamara Kapugedara 55, S. M. Senanayake 4 for 140, Kaushalya Lokuarachchi 4 for 88) and 304 for 8 (Nisal Randika 97, Jehan Mubarak 64, Chamara Kapugedara 56, Sachithra Senanayake 5 for 102)

SSC - 130 (N. T. Paranavithana 22, K. P. S. P. Karunanayake 21, Kaushal Silva 31, Nisal Randika 6 for 18) and 214 (Kaushalya Lokuarachchi 40, Dhammika Prasad 44, Jehan Mubarak 4 for 59).
