National Day of Iran celebrated
COLOMBO: The National Day of the Islamic Republic of Iran was
celebrated recently at Galadari Hotel.
Science and Technology Minister Professor Tissa Vitarana represented
the Government of Sri Lanka at this occasion.
The Ambassador for Iran in Sri Lanka Behnam Behrouz, said that there
were a great number of similarities among our two countries. "We have
identified the people of Sri Lanka with full of generosity and
hospitality," he said.
Minister Vitarana appreciated the government of Iran being the main
supplier of oil to Sri Lanka for providing it at a concessionary rate.
He thanked the Iranian government for undertaking to install area
collaboration with Pakistan and India an early warning system in the
event of an earthquake occurring in Macron Falls which is at the
boundary of Iran/Pakistan.
Professor Vitarana was hopeful that the good relationships that have
been established between the two countries would grow from strength to
strength and the bonds to grow would help to meet the challenges that
lie before the two countries. |
