ANURADHAPURA: Eight suspects including a woman were arrested in a special search operation conducted in the Anuradhapura police division on the direction of Senior DIG Sirisena Herath.

Over 310 police personnel were engaged in the operation. These suspects failed to give valid reasons for their staying in the Anuradhapura area. Some of them are from Vavuniya police division, said North Central Range DIG Kingsley Ekanayake.

Anuradhapura SP Macarthy Perera who assisted in the special operation said these suspects have been detained and investigations are on to ascertain whether they have relations with terrorists.

Senior DIG Sirisena Herath had directed the SP Macarthy Perera to cordon off the suspected areas and continue the special operations.
