President's vision helped rebuild SEC - Housing Minister
COLOMBO: "President Mahinda Rajapaksa's leadership helped rebuild the
State Engineering Corporation," said Housing and common Amenities
Minister Ferial Ashraff.
The Minister was speaking at a function at the Corporation.
Construction and Engineering Services Minister Rajitha Senaratne was
also present.
Ashraff said the "SEC was among the non-profit making institutions
for the last decade due to various reasons".
When I accepted this portplio, most of institutions in the field have
faced hardships. "The SEC has been able to make profits within two three
years".
This has been achieved by the SEC under the able guidance of late Dr.
A. N. S. Kulasinghe former Chairman, Greshan Peiris and Present
Chairman, Raja Edirisooriya.
President Rajapaksa had a vision to make the SEC a leading
construction institution in Sri Lanka. He gave all the assistance to
rebuild this organisation."
Construction and Engineering Services Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne
said the corporation which achieved success through the cooperation of
staff, sets an example to other institutions which are not making
profits.
Majority of political parties are with the President for the
country's development, he said.
Ministry Secretary Nissanka Wijeratne, National Heritage Ministry
Secretary Mallika Karunarantne, SEC Chairman Raja Edirisooriya, National
Housing Development Authority, Mohamed Raffeek, Housing Development
Finance Corporation Bank Chairman M. M. Yaseen, Ministry Additional
Secretary U. N. Rodrigo were present. |
