Zahira in command

CRICKET: Zahira College, Colombo’s openers Isham Ghouse (107 not out) and M. Nawser (134 not out) were involved in an unbroken opening stand of 256 runs which put their school in a commanding position in their inter-school Lemonade Trophy cricket match against Sri Sumangala College, Panadura which began at Panadura, yesterday.

Sri Sumangala College batted first and were bundled out for 190. S. D. L. Ruksha scoring a half century (52) and T. Thushan (25) and C. Molligoda (36) also made useful contributions. Ifram Ghouse (4 for 50) and M. Fawaz (3 for 20) were the chief wreckers.

Sri Sumangala College 1st innings 190 all out (S. D. L. Ruksha 52, T. Thushan 25, C. Molligoda 36, S. Lakruwan 21, M. Fawaz 3 for 20, M. Ifran Ghouse 4/50, M. Isham Ghouse 2/35).

Zahira College 256 for no loss (M. Nawser 134 not out, Isham Ghouse 107 not out)
