Huge stock of cannabis plants seized

POLONNARUWA: Over Rs. one million worth cannabis were seized by Moneragala police during raids in on Kahambana jungle on Monday night, Moneragala police said.

According to Moneragala police, following a tip off, several police officers searched the Kahambana jungle and seized five chenas of cannabis plants.

The seized cannabis were destroyed by the police officers.

Police said three suspects were apprehended during the raid and produced before the Moneragala Magistrate.

The Moneragala police is conducting investigation.
