Borah Spiritual Leader assures support to Govt
COLOMBO: The Spiritual Leader of the International Borah Community
His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mohommed Burhanuddin assured the unstinted
support and co-operation of the Sri Lankan Borah community towards the
Government’s efforts to usher in peace and prosperity for its people
when he called on President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees on Tuesday
night with the other members of his delegation.
Dr. Syedna Mohommed Burhanuddin who held extensive discussions with
President Rajapaksa on development activities and the peace process in
Sri Lanka, described the President as a farsighted leader and prayed for
peace in Sri Lanka under his leadership.
A Presidential Secretariat release said the Spiritual Leader added
that he was impressed with the massive development programme launched by
the President and that he has already witnessed rapid development taking
place in this country under the President’s leadership.
President Rajapaksa said he highly valued and appreciated the visit
of Dr. Syedna Mohommed Burhanuddin and hoped that the spiritual leader’s
prayers would enable him to solve the country’s problems and usher
honourable peace.
A donation of Rs. 10 million made to the President’s Fund by the
Borah Community was also handed over to President Rajapaksa during this
meeting.
Later President Rajapaksa hosted a dinner in honour of Dr. Syedna
Mohommed Burhanuddin and his delegation.
