investment promotion delegation in Pakistan
INVESTMENT: A high level Sri Lankan delegation led by Minister for
Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion Dr. Sarath Amunugama is
visiting Pakistan from February 5 to 9.
The visit is aimed at strengthening existing commercial and economic
relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, besides exploring new avenues
for useful economic interaction between the two countries in other
areas.
The delegation also includes Minister of Enterprise Development Mano
Wijeratne, Secretary-Ministry of Enterprise Development T. Hewage and
Chairman Board of Investment of Sri Lanka Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala.
The delegation will visit Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi during their
stay in Pakistan.
The visit includes a meeting with the Prime Minister of Pakistan,
Shaukat Aziz. The delegation is also due to have a detailed briefing
about the economic opportunities and prospects in Pakistan. The
delegation will call on the Foreign Minister and Advisor of the Prime
Minister on Finance.
During their visit to Lahore and Karachi, the delegation will call on
the Chief Ministers of the respective provinces.
A number of investment forums and various meetings with three major
Chambers of Commerce and Industries in Pakistan are also part of the
visit programme.
The visit, first of its kind between the two countries in the recent,
years, is expected to deepen understanding on both sides about the
tremendous economic potentials and opportunities yet unexplored in both
the countries.
