New venue for President's Fund

COLOMBO: The Office of the President's Fund will be shifted to the ground floor of Renuka Building at 41, Janadhipathi Mawatha, Colombo 1, from today.

The relocation will extend the Fund's activities and provide a more efficient service to the public, a Presidential Secretariat release said yesterday.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has directed that poor masses be given priority in providing the services of the President's Fund and the new office will facilitate proper and speedy attention to their requests, the release added.

The President's Fund provides funding for relief to the poor, promoting educational activities, health services, grants to people who have rendered special service to the Nation and the benefit and welfare of the people in general.

The Fund hopes to extend its social welfare activities in the future. Those visiting the President's Fund office are requested to use Chatham Street and Hospital Lane only.
