Wins award

COLOMBO: Sri Lankan born Dr. Nazeem Muhajarine, a researcher of the
Saskatchewan Unviersity recently received the 2006 Knowledge Translation
Award from the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) for his
research into policies and programmes that helped Saskatchewan's
children.
The award, which recognises excellence in research and carries with
it a $ 20,000 stipend, was presented at the CIHR's fifth annual Canadian
Health Research awards gala ceremony in Ottawa.
Dr. Muhajarine, a Professor and Head of the Department of Community
Health and Epidemiology in the College of Medicine and a senior research
faculty member of the Saskatchewan Population Health and Evaluation
Research Unit, works closely with community decision makers.
He is Co-director and a driving force in the Community-University
Institute for Social Research (CUISR).
Dr. Muhajarine attended D.S. Senanayaka College, writing his Advanced
Level Examination before he won a full scholarship to study pre-medicine
(Psychobiology) in Oberlin College, a private liberal arts college in
Ohio. |
