Hayacinth to release song ablum

Hayacinth Abeykoon , sister of Gration Ananda will ceremonially launch her maiden album on audio CD on January 25 at Sanhinda Reception Hall, Nugegoda.

The album, Epa Handannata, comprises a selection of ten original songs by the singer. The songs include a duet which Hayacinth sings with Mr. affectionate or Layanvithaya of Sihala light music and song, Keerthi Paskuel.

Earnest Soyza, Gration Ananda and Stanley Soyza had directed music for the album for the lyrics of Ananda Padmasiri, Saman Chandranath Weerasinghe, Hemasiri Halpita and Rev. Father Siril Cooray. Hayacinth is a past pupil of St. Mary's Convent in Matara.

On being asked about her being driven to produce a CD, Hayasinth said that she had taken so much time than she should have to produce her present selection of songs.

She remembers her past as a lonely passage in time. "I was in the hostel . It took 11 years for me to come to my mother," she said. Hayacinth is the youngest of a family of seven children.

"I was in the choir during my school years at the convent. It did a lot of good to improve my voice," she said.

"Gration Ananda Aiya helped me a lot to produce the album," she said. Reflecting on her favourite singles in the album, Hyacinth said she liked the songs Aadaraye Senpathi, which is about soldier in love in the battlefield, who gets married and yet performs his duties aright, and Epa Handannata (Don't Cry) among other songs.

Hayasith sings Aadaraye Senpathi (Soldier of Love ) with Keerthi Paskuel.

"I also like Sundara Lowak, written by Halpita , which is a dance tune."

"The lyrical content of most songs are sensitive. They touched me deeply that is why I selected them."

I was undergoing a difficult period when I met Dushantha, who is my husband now. I was working at Hotel Riverina at that time in Beruwala. I think things went right after that, a thoughtful Hyacinth said.

I have a son , Dilshan Joseph (12) who goes to St. Peter's Collge, Colombo, she said smiling.

"I think my life has changed over the years. I would say it has changed for better because I placed my trust in Lord Jesus."
