ANCL leads many Buddhist activities in the country - Asgiriya Maha

KANDY: The Lake House which is a newspaper institution with
long history has rendered a great service towards improving peoples
knowledge, said the Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkhita Mahanayaka
Thera of the Asgiriya Chapter.
The late D.R. Wijewardene started Lake House with noble motives and
it is the duty of its present management to steer it forward in keeping
with those motives, the Mahanayaka Thera said when Lake House (ANCL)
Acting Chairman and Editorial Director Sarath Kongahage called on him at
the Asgiriya Maha Viharaya in Kandy and received his blessings
yesterday.
The Mahanayaka Thera further said that he witnessed Lake House taking
the leadership in many Buddhist activities in the country and he highly
valued and appreciated this service.
Describing Mr. Kongahage as an efficient person who had the ability
to perform any duty or responsibility entrusted to him properly the
Mahanayake Thera said his blessings will always be with Mr. Kongahage.
Kongahage said Lake House had rendered yeoman service towards a
Buddhist revival in the country. Lake House has also planned several
Buddhist religious and other programmes to mark Vesak and Poson Poya
this year too.
He said he would also seek and value the guidance and counsel of the
Maha Sangha in the performance of his duties and responsibilities.
Kongahage also visited the Sri Dalada Maligawa and paid homage to the
Sacred Tooth Relic. Thereafter he called on the Most Ven. Thibbotuwawe
Sri Siddharta Sumangala Mahanayake Thera of the Malwatta Chapter at the
Malwatta Maha Viharaya and received his blessings. |
