DLF deplores attack on meeting
COLOMBO: IT is reported that a public meeting organized by the
United People's Movement had been attacked and disrupted by a crowd of
gangsters.
We vehemently condemn this gangsterism and we are perturbed because
this action threatens the very foundation of democracy, a statement
issued by the Democratic Left Front (DLF) said.
As a section of the government is reported to be involved in this
political gangsterism, the President and the Government too will suffer
the disrepute.
Therefore we demand that action be taken to investigate this incident
and prosecute the suspected criminals, the statement issued by DLF
secretary Vasudeva Nanayakkara said.
About an hour before this incident I personally gave the information
to the authorities that preparations for such an attack was underway.,
