Family members appeal for Prof. Raveendranath's release
COLOMBO: The wife and members of Prof. Raveendranath has
appealed to the abducted to release him without causing any harm to him
and has also appealed the University grants Commission to re-consider
the letter of resignation sent by the Professor who went missing from
December 15.
"Professor Raveendranath submitted his resignation letter from the
post of vice chancellor to the university grants commission three months
back following a threat to his post. Since then he has been staying in
Dehiwala and reporting to work at the UGC Colombo. Unfortunately the UGC
refused to accept the resignation."
"We the family members believe the abovementioned background may be
the cause for his missing. We humbly request UGC chairman to take
necessary action regarding Professor's resignation letter and we also
appeal to those whoever abducted the Professor to release him as early
as possible without doing any harm. This is the very urgent humble
appeal from the family members who are suffering due to Professor's
disappearance."
"We request higher officers to take immediate steps to release Prof.
S. Raveendranath.
We understand that, Professor was abducted on 15.12.2006 after
attending a Science Forum at SLAAS, Vidya Mandiraya, Vidya Mawatha,
Colombo 07 and we lost contact with him after that.
So far we couldn't get any positive development from relevant
authorities". |
