CRICKET: A pulsating knock of 75 not out with 3 sixers and 6 fours
off only 55 balls by Mangala Jayawardena helped Sri Rahula College,
Katugastota to score a thrilling five wicket win over Royal College,
Panadura with five balls to spare in their Schools Lemonade Cup Cricket
Tournament match concluded at Peradeniya yesterday.
Sri Rahula College were set a victory target of 127 in 16 overs and
they just managed to reach their target in the final over thanks to
Mangala Jayawardena's effervescent knock which made this victory
possible.
Royal College, Panadura 126 all out in 59.3 overs (S. Rangana 35, K.
Dinesh 24, K. Samarasinghe 51, A. Chathuranga 16, M. Bototage 2 for 49,
R. Udayakumara 3 for 32, C. Dikkumbura 4 for 26) and 129 all out in 57.3
overs (S. Chandana 29, S. Rangana 18, M. Kumara 29, Rasika Udayakumara 5
for 31, C. Dikkumbura 5 for 23).
Sri Rahula College 179 all out in 54.4 overs (M. Jayawardena 42, M.
Bototage 48, R. Udayakumara 19, S. Ranaweera 13, D. Manjula 16, C.
Gunatilake 12, C. Dikkumbura 12, S. Chandana 2 for 37, D. Manjula 2 for
10, P. Chathuranga 3 for 15, B. Fernando 2 for 22) and 127 for 5 wickets
