Scotland Yard begins Raviraj probe

COLOMBO: Scotland Yard investigators began their probe into the November 10, 2006 assassination of TNA MP Nadaraja Raviraj yesterday.

Five Scotland Yard officials comprising a ballistics expert, a forensic science expert and three specialised investigators arrived on Thursday.

"The investigation is going on and no details will be made public until the investigation is completed," a top CID official told the Daily News. Several CID officers are providing investigations and logistics support to the Scotland Yard team.

Raviraj was assassinated in Narahenpita close to his residence by a gunman who used a T-56 concealed in a bag. Raviraj was driving his red Toyota Land Cruiser with his bodyguard Sgt. Lakshman in the passenger seat when the killer sprayed the vehicle with bullets killing them instantly.
