RUGBY: Sri Lanka flanker Dilanka Wijesekera will lead CH and FC in
the 2007 rugby season. Wijesekera has been a regular member of the
national team after he first donned the Sri Lanka Jersey in 2002.
He played for Sri Lanka in the two Rugby World Cup Asian Zone
qualifying Games this year against China and Hong Kong and in the rugby
competition of the Asian Games in Doha, Qatar.
He has been turning out for the Maitland Crescent Club since 2003.
Sri Lanka prop forward Jayantha Ranaweera will be his deputy.
The lads from Maitland Crescent will also have the services of a new
coach with New Zealander Jeff Matheson, the former Sri Lanka coach
having failed to produce results this year.
CH and FC ended up in third position in the Caltex 'A' Division
League and were knocked-out in the semi-finals of the Clifford Cup
losing to Havelocks 10-15.
