Two minutes' silence for tsunami commemoration

COLOMBO: The Government requests the public to observe two minutes silence from 9.25 to 9.27 a.m. on December 26 to honour all those who perished during the tsunami disaster two years ago.

All motor vehicles, except ambulances on operational duty, are also expected to stop running during this period. Horns should not be operated.

Places of worship belonging to all religions are expected to ring their bells from 9.25 a.m. to 9.27 a.m. Temples, kovils, mosques and churches around the island have organised religious observances to mark the second anniversary of the tsunami.
