Sankaara - Asia's Best

COLOMBO: Prasanna Jayakody's cinematic creation Sankaara (Introspection) has emerged as Asia's Best Film at the just-concluded 11th Kerala International Film Festival. It also emerged as the best film in the maiden/newcomer category.

This is the second international award won by Sankaara in as many weeks. It earlier won the Silver Pyramid award at the Cairo International Film festival. Incidentally, this was the first time that Sankaara was presented at an international film event. Jayakody and producers Somaratna Dissanayake and Renuka Balasuriya returned to the island with the awards yesterday.

Sankaara will be exhibited locally next year.
