Ragama CC confront SSC

CRICKET: The table leaders Ragama Cricket Club will confront the
favourites SSC in a key SLC Premier League inter club cricket tournament
match at Katunayake commencing today.
Ragama CC have already taken a surprise lead while competing in group
'A' and will be hoping to consolidate their position. Last week too they
put up a tremendous performance to collect maximum points against
Saracens SC at the same venue.
But this time they will be up against a tough opposition with SSC out
to maintain their impressive record in this tournament. Even then the
Ragama CC bowlers will hold the key to their success with left arm
spinner Upul Indrasiri out to produce a repeat performance.
Last week he took a matchbag of thirteen wickets including a season's
best of eight wickets for 29 which helped his team register an emphatic
174 run outright victory.
SSC too will be depending heavily on their spin trio of Shalika
Karunanayake, Suraj Mohamed and Chaminda Vidanapathirana who have been
among the wickets this season. Their batting will revolve around last
week's centurian Tharanga Paranavithana, Hans Fernando and Marvan
Atapattu who also scored a century in a limited overs game a couple of
days ago.
Meanwhile Colts CC will take on Chilaw Marians SC in another
important group 'B' fixture at Havelock Park. Colts CC are currently
placed second in the points table and this will be a good opportunity
for them to reduce the margin with the table leaders Tamil Union.
Chilaw Marians of course have just a solitary first innings victory
to their credit from their three outings but they will go into this
match with their heads high having defeated SSC in a limited overs game
a couple of days ago.
