Rs. 5 million to Raviraj's widow

COLOMBO: President Mahinda Rajapaksa has presented a Cabinet memorandum and obtained approval to make an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 5 million to the widow of MP Nadaraja Raviraj, Sushikala and his daughter, Cabinet Spokesman and Media and Information Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said.

Addressing the weekly Cabinet press briefing, Yapa said Cabinet approval has received to release funds from the Treasury to make the payment.

In terms of another Cabinet memorandum presented by President Mahinda Rajapaksa which received approval ownership of the vehicle used by late STF DIG Upul Seneviratne was transferred to his wife Sudharma Seneviratne.

She will be allowed to purchase the vehicle on concessionary terms at the depreciated value from December 1, 2006.
