Vittachi remains

CHAIRMAN: District Court Number one issued an enjoining order on Harry Jayawardena restraining him from removing Dr. V.P Vittachi from acting as a Chairman of Stassens Exports Limited (SEL).

Dr. Vittachi told the Daily News that he had almost won the case and could remain as the Chairman of SEL despite all challenges. Earlier as the Chairman, Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka Limited (DCSL) Vittachi filed a court case against his expulsion from his post on a directive from business magnate Harry Jayawardena.

According to company sources Jayawardena called for an Extra Ordinary General Meeting despite opposition from his directors Vittachi, Raju Obeysekera and Zaki Alif.

The reason for that dispute was apparently Jayawardena's intention to appoint his wife Jacinta Priyadarshini Jayawardena to the relevant position.
