FICA talent search ends in Galle
CRICKET: Fingara International Cricket Academy (FICA) successfully
conducted another Fingara Talent Search at the Ratgama Cricket Grounds,
Galle recently to select talented cricketers to be trained at the
Fingara International Cricket Academy.
Fifteen students each from ten schools had been invited for this FICA
Talent Search sponsored by Hutch and co-sponsored by F&G RECL.
The ten most talented cricketers were selected from the 150
participants, and awarded scholarships. Those selected will get the rare
opportunity of being trained by the FICA Cricket Ambassadors Sanath
Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara, and the team of FICA Coaches.
FICA presented cricket equipment to the participating schools and F&G
Supiri Savings Accounts for all the individual players who had
participated at this FICA Talent Search.
FICA possesses five cricket nets with different pitch conditions,
three bowling machines and several other state-of-the-art facilities.
One of the unique features of FICA is the bio-mechanic analysis, which
is the only one of its kind in the region, for monitoring and
fine-tuning the techniques of the players.
The students of FICA were also fortunate to have the services of
foreign coaches of the calibre of John Dyson and Trevor Chapel guiding
them to improve their skills.
Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara from now on will guide and
assist the selected cricketers to learn the finer points of the game
develop and improve their skills towards achieving their dream in
cricket.
The Fingara International Cricket Academy was established in 2005
with the objective of providing talented Sri Lankan cricketers with a
world-class training facility to achieve international standards.
