Vidugan Master among LTTEers killed

COLOMBO: More than 15 LTTE cadres including area leader Vidugan Master were killed in two separate incidents in Vakarai and Mahindapura on Monday evening when Security Forces successfully repulsed twin attacks. Two soldiers were also killed and 19 injured in the incidents.

According to a spokesman from the Media Centre for National Security the LTTE cadres attacked a group of Army personnel in Kaddamuravikulam towards Vakarai South and Mahindapura South using mortars.

"The army successfully retaliated killing 15 LTTE cadres including their area leader Vidugan Master," he added. Meanwhile, LTTE cadres have forcibly removed five fishing boats and seven engines from fishermen in Kudiramalai, Puttalam.

"Several fishermen who were fishing in the Kudiramalai, Puttalam seas in the early hours of yesterday were forcefully relieved of their boats and engines.

"Consequently the fishermen were loaded to another boat," the spokesman said.

In a separate incident two Home Guards were injured when LTTE cadres detonated a claymore mine in Mahanikawewa, Kebithigollewa around 7.30 a.m yesterday.

According to a MCNS spokesman, LTTE cadres detonated the claymore mine targeting the Home Guards who were on duty protecting the outer perimeter of Kebethigollewa. The injured were admitted to the Kebethigollewa hospital.
