SB's proposals endorsed
COLOMBO: The amendments proposed by S. B. Dissanayake to
reform the party were overwhelmingly accepted at the United National
Party executive council meeting, preceding the General Convention
yesterday and this was considered a victory to the Karu Jayasuriya
faction demanding democracy within the party.
At this meeting, Sajith Premadasa and Ravindra Samaraweera spoke in
favour of amendments while party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe remained
silent.
The UNP leadership having accepted the reform proposals decided to
attend the executive committee meetings to be held on 18th and 19th
December according to a UNP member.
Accordingly the process of reforming the party will go ahead
successfully bringing an end to all disputes between the two factions,
said the UNP member. |
