More medals for Lankans

FESPIC GAMES: Sri Lanka collected two bronze medals in badminton events and another bronze medal in athletic events on the penultimate day of the FESPIC Sports Festival for the handicapped, worked off at the Bukeet Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur here on Thursday.

Jayatilleke Banda and M. Mahadivulwewa took the bronze medal in the wheelchair doubles tennis tournament while going down to Malaysia 17-21, 12-21.n addition M. P. Chandrasena won a bronze medal in the men's shot putt event while clearing a distance of 11.91 metres.

Overall Sri Lanka completed the athletic events with a total of one gold medal, 12 silver medals and seven bronze medals.

In the swimming events Sri Lanka collected one gold, three silver and two bronze medals.

Over four thousand competitors from 63 countries in four different categories are vying for honours with Sri Lanka fielding a 81 member strong contingent for this Sports Festival which will be concluded today.
