Explosives haul found in Jaffna

JAFFNA: A haul of arms and explosives was recovered by the Security
Forces in Uruppirai, Jaffna on Wednesday night following a tip-off
received from a civilian.
According to a spokesman from the Media Centre for the National
Security the explosives and weapons were hidden in a large crater.
Following the tip-off, the Forces recovered two petrol tanks filled
with C4 high explosives, a suicide jacket, two T56s, 10 hand grenades,
two wire codes, two RPGs, three back bags, bandages, tablet items, an
army-type uniform and a civilian suit.
Meanwhile, the Security Force recovered a police uniform with other
items buried in a compound in Sirippiddi on Wednesday night, MCNS
spokesman said.
He said that following information received from a civilian the
Security Forces recovered eight police uniform shirts and slacks, two
pairs of shoes, two police belts, 17 gloves, a cap and a number of tags.
