Strong comeback by Renown, beat Police 2-1

SOCCER: Renown Sports Club who are making a strong bid to move up in
the Kit Premier league standings came up with a brilliant performance to
beat Police Sports Club two goals to one at Police Park yesterday.
Renown SC who were placed one step above the bottom in the standings
just after the first stage of the tourney has now moved ahead with two
victories in the past two weeks playing the second stage.
Renown led one-nil at half-time. Police score their solitary goal in
the second session but another goal from the Kotahena club sealed
victory for them.
The other segment 'A' game between Saunders Sports Club and Air Force
played at Sugathadasa stadium saw Pettah Club came out as victors. The
scoreboard read in favour of Saunders 1-0 at the final whistle. The
winners led at lemons 1-0.
The segment 'B' game between New Youngs SC from Wennappuwa and Matara
SC played at Albert F. Pieris stadium, Wennappuwa had to be called off
midway into the game due to heavy rains.
At the time of the stoppage Wennappuwa team was in front 4 goals to
nil.
On Saturday Ratnam Sports Club defeated Kandy York SC at Bogambara
stadium 2 goals to nil. At half-time Ratnam SC were leading 1-0.
The match between defending champions of the Kit Premier League,
Negombo Youth Sports Club and Blue Star SC did not come out as scheduled
due to heavy rains.
Negombo team who are looking forward to move ahead of the leaders
Ratnam SC will take on Sri Lanka Army at CR & FC. Kick-off is scheduled
for 3.30 p.m.
