Paper proscription of LTTE in EU

UK: Tamils in EU countries held Prabhakaran's special function despite the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) being officially proscribed in the European Union in May 2006.

The publicity in the LTTE media is extensive and the terrorists continue with its activities without impunity.

The LTTE broadcasting media TTN a subscribed service for members, opened its broadcast free from November 24 to 30, 2006. In its usual programmes, it is elongating the LTTE cause and the programmes are pitched to raise funds in the Tamil Diaspora.

The TTN is operating from France without intervention from the broadcasting and security authorities.

The freedom the LTTE enjoys in the EU states is not given to the democratic voices in the Tamil Diaspora.

The LTTE carried out a pre-dawn terrorist raid on the independent Tamil Broadcasting Corporation station on November 25 sabotaging the service to have absolute monopoly over broadcasting in the Tamil Diaspora.
