MNA hails President

COLOMBO: Paying a glowing tribute to President Mahinda Rajapaksa on the Presidents successful completion of one year in office, Secretary General of Muslim National Alliance (MNA) and Presidential Advisor Nazeer Ahamed in a media said a one year period is taken as a measuring tape and if one were to gauge the President's achievements by that barometer there were many.

The President is fully aware that a solution to the ethnic conflict is essential if the nation is to take the path of development. 'And this he has set about to achieve in a style and manner unique to him'.

To him all those who live in Sri Lanka are equal citizens of the country and it with this in heart and mind he has extended the invitation of peace to the LTTE.

The President had promised he would never betray the Muslims for narrowgains whatsoever and this he expressed in deeds when he refused to give into demands that Muslims be prevented from returning to Muttur.

'Nothing could shake him from his pledge to resettle the Muslims in Muttur and he did not rest until he achieved this'.

'President Mahinda Rajapaksa had said he would not stop development projects despite a the present situation in the north-east of the country. By launching the airport project he has shown his critics he is a man of his word', Ahmed pointed out.
