Lanka meet India, China

RUGBY: Sri Lanka will play against India and China in their Group matches of the Asian Games rugby competition on December 10, 2006 in Doha, Qatar.

The Sri Lankans will confront India in their first match on December 10 at 7.15 p.m. under floodlights and then take on China at 9.20 p.m. on the same day.

If they win both matches then the Sri Lankans will play in the Cup Championships on the second day with Asian heavyweights Japan and South Korea and will go all out to clinch a Bronze Medal which eluded them on the last two occasions when they took part in the Games-in 1998 (Bangkok) and 2002 (Busan).

Centre Mohamed Sheriff who is nursing an injury has still not attended practices and if he fails to pass the fitness test at the end of month then his place will be taken by the experienced Nalaka Weerakkody who has been named as a stand-by.
