Committee to regularise food in Jaffna

COLOMBO: Social Services and Social Welfare Minister Douglas Devananda, has taken steps to set up Consumer Protection Committees in the Jaffna district to ensure proper distribution of food items and other essential commodities whilst safeguarding their quality, standard subjected to reasonable prices.

The Minister resorted to this action in response to numerous representations made by the public urging his direct involvement to regularise food and other essential items distribution.

It is expected that fair distribution of food in the Jaffna district could be made possible subsequent to the formation of these Committees.
