Construction work on playground at a standstill

PLAYGROUND: The construction work on the new playground of the Kalugala Maha Vidyalaya in the Hatton Educational Zone in the Nuwara Eliya District which was inaugurated nearly one year ago has come to a standstill since its inception.

As the rural school has a very small playground which is not spacious for its students to do their sports and physical training activities, the necessity of a new playground for the school arose several years back.

Meanwhile the then Minister of Small and Medium Scale Plantation Industries, Rural Human Resources Development and Livestock Development R.M.C.B. Ratnayake inaugurated the construction work on a new playground of the Kalugala MV last year but its construction work was restricted only to its inauguration.

The School Development Society appeals to the authorities concerned to take steps to construct the proposed playground without further delay so that the students of the Kalugala MV will be able to do their sports and physical training activities without hindrance.
