Seylan and Butterfly TT champs

TABLE TENNIS: Seylan Bank `A' emerged Men's `A' division champions while Butterfly won the women's `A' division title at the Mercantile Table Tennis team knock- out championships worked off at the S.Thomas' College, Indoor Stadium, Mount Lavinia, recently.

The tournament was organised by the Mercantile Table Tennis Association and sponsored by Ceylinco Grameen Auto Mobiles (Pvt) Ltd.

Seylan Bank became champions after beating Butterfly `A' 3-1 in the Men's finals. Butterfly came top after defeating Lake House in a close contest 3-2 in the Women's final. Before reaching final Butterfly also went onto beat Commercial Bank `A' 3-2.

In the final of Men's `B' division Butterfly `B' had the better of Veterans `B' 3-1 while YMCA Moratuwa overcame Seylan Bank 3-0 to take the women's event.

Results: (Men's finals) A division: Seylan Bank `A' beat Butterfly `A' 3-1, B division: Butterfly `B' beat Veterans `B' 3-1, C division: Commercial Bank `A' beat Butterfly `C' 3-1, D division: Dharmaraja College beat Kingswood College 3-0, E division: Simcap beat Kingswood College `B' 3-1.

(Women's finals) A division: Butterfly beat Lake House `A' 3-2, B division: YMCA Moratuwa beat Seylan Bank 3-0, C division: Sri Lanka Insurance beat Holy Cross, Gampaha 3-2.
