Clarification

COLOMBO: The Public Service Commission has informed that the office has conveyed the appointment of Dr. Sumith Ananda to the Medical Superintendent post at the General Hospital, Matara on October 27 and to say that the PSC has not approved the appointment is incorrect, PSC Chairman P. R. P. Perera said referring to our news item on November 11. His statement is as follows:

"The order of the Public Service Commission in regard to the appointment of Dr. Sumith Ananda to the post of Medical Superintendent, General Hospital, Matara has been conveyed to the Secretary, Ministry of Healthcare and Nutrition on the 27th of October 2006."

"As such you may note that your news item to the effect that the Public Service Commission has not yet approved the filling up of such vacancy in the post concerned is factually incorrect."
