Free textbook, uniforms distribution today

WEERAKETIYA: The National Ceremony for handing over school textbooks and school uniforms to students will be held today at 9 a.m. at Rajapakse Central College, Weeraketiya under the patronage of Education Minister Susil Premajayantha.

The programme coincides with the commemoration of the President Mahinda Rajapaksa's first year in office.

According to the Ministry of Education sources, a new curriculum will be implemented in 2007. Free textbooks which have been written in line with the new curriculum will be issued on December 7.

The inaugural ceremony of the programme titled 'English for All' will be held at the Tangalle National College at 11.00 a.m. also with the Minister of Education's participation.
