MASS WEDDING

71 couples from the Chinese city of Tianjin - sister city to Melbourne - arrive to be married in a mass wedding ceremony in Melbourne, November 19. The couples arrived in a flotilla of water taxis along the Yarra River before a hybrid ceremony mixing Eastern and Western wedding traditions. Melbourne’s Lord Mayor John So and Tianjin’s Vice Mayor Zhang presided over the ceremony and famous Australian Chinese Music Ensemble played the wedding march and and bridal chorus. AFP
